Telephone counselling gives a greater sense of anonymity

There are no geographical boundaries

It eliminates the need to make special childcare arrangements

Telephone counselling is time efficient

It is ideal for people for whose (public) travel needs are ill-catered for

It is potentially an effective way to access counselling

The benefits of telephone counselling

Telephone counselling is a private and confidential form of help. I will not pass on any information from or about you to anyone else, with the following exceptions are: when it is in the public interest to disclose, for example child abuse or threat of harm to other third parties. Disclosure can also be ordered by a court of law or by the police (with a warrant).

In addition I will reserve the right to inform your local primary care team if it is my assessment that you intend to harm yourself.

Telephone counselling sessions are confidential

Privacy policy

I do not pass on, rent or sell your name or any identifying information to any third party individual or organisation for any reason whatsoever

(see 'confidentiality')

I may print correspondence received electronically and store it, with my notes, under number, separate from your contact information.

I do not keep any records relating to you on computer.

You have access to my notes about your telephone counselling.

I only keep notes relating to telephone counselling sessions for a period of three years, after which they are destroyed.

You have the right to request a copy of any information that I hold about you (£10 administration charge)

Telephone counselling is suitable for most people

Telephone counselling is suitable for you if:

you are over 18 years of age

you have good command of the English language

you are not feeling suicidal at the time of your call

Very few problems are of an 'all or nothing' nature, therefore if you are in doubt  whether telephone counselling would work for you, but would like support or advice, then do call me.

Fees for telephone consultations

30 minute consultation    £25

45 minute consultation    £35

Concessions available for face-to-face counselling only

If I am unavailable at the time of your call, please do leave a message and  a time for me to contact you (UK callers only).

In addition, if we decide early on during your first session that telephone counselling is not right for you, I will refund the full fee.
